I began my Shower Series in 2020 at the height of COVID. I was taking classes online and had never experimented with self portraiture. My grandparent's house from the 60's (which has scarcely been renovated since) has the most beautiful green tiled bathroom. The light reflects perfectly off it. Since then, I decided to take a portrait every year, as long as I can as a measure of my myself and my photography.
I've known about my love for shoes since I was a child. I'd go shopping with my mom and beg her to let me wear 6 inch stilettos, at the ripe age of eleven. It wasn't until recently that I discovered I also have a passion for photographing shoes. I've often heard the saying, "the shoe makes the man" and thought, screw that! I have never seen a man endure bloody feet on a night out in the name of style and strength. As Celine Dione said, give a woman a pair of shoes, two sizes too small and she'll make it work.
Little Joys was my senior thesis at Parsons School of Design. I was having a very transformative year, full of travel, new love and friendship. Scared of what was to come after graduation, I wanted my project to be a way to slow down and document what felt like a very beautiful time in my life. I tried to take on a lens of really appreciating every little moment in my day to day life and capturing the people I love most in the world in their little moments of joy and life.
Lib's Film Diary is a collection of iPhone photos from throughout the years. You'll often find me stopped on a street corner taking a picture of what looks like a pile of trash, but for some reason I find it so aesthetically pleasing, I must stop to document it. This has been an outlet for me during the time when I don't feel very creative. I find it relaxing to go on a walk, blast some music and look for all of the beautiful things surrounding me.
